The Friday Five

This week’s roundup of our favorites from across the interwebs to help you make sense of men and women.

1. What If I Regret Not Having Kids? by Peggy Drexler of The Daily Beast says: As the debate rages on about the merits of the childfree life, is the fear of future regret a valid motivator for popping out babies?

2. My Anorexic 9-Year-Old by Kristi Belcamino of Salon.com says: “I never thought this could happen to a child so young, in a body positive household like ours. Boy, was I wrong.”

3. Soccer Isn’t For Girly-Girls? How Parents Pick The Sports Their Daughters Play by Hilary Levey Friedman of The Atlantic asks: Should a girl do soccer, dance, or chess? It depends on what kind of a woman her parents want her to become. (Not sure we agree with this one, but it’s raised some debate.)

4. The Opt-Out Generation Wants Back In by Judith Warner of The New York Times profiles women who, years ago, were highly successful in their careers but chose to stay at home to raise their children. Today, they’re ready to get back to work.

5. All The Selfish Reasons To Be A Male Feminist by Noah Berlatsky of Slate.com says: “Wanting my wife to have more options doesn’t just come out of an abstract desire to help women-in-general somewhere over there. It comes out of a desire to have more options myself.”
